@gb70 – Can you add some pictures of inside of the trunk and also the trunk rods which I would like to see the size of the two rods. ...

Here you go, this is surface rust from when I removed the rubber mat, the metal is not soft, it just removed the paint. The consol will go with the car as well. Trunk lid is perfect.
