Restored 1951 Willys-Overland Pickup

This 1951 Willys-Overland 2WD pickup was the product of a complete restoration with itemized receipts showing 900 hours of labor and $63k in total expenditures. The project involved disassembly of the body with all panels and the frame prepped and resprayed, refinishing of all brightwork, and a refreshment of the interior with all new upholstery. Power is provided by a rebuilt 134ci F-Head inline-four paired with a 3-speed manual transmission with added overdrive. The seller has owned the vehicle for 20 years and is including photographs of the vehicle before, during, and after restoration work was completed. Finished in Olive Green over a reupholstered green vinyl interior, this Willys is now offered with build documentation, other paperwork, a California car cover, and a clear New York title in the seller’s name.

The Willys-Overland was a full-size pickup that began production in 1947 on a 118-inch wheelbase and was redesigned in 1950 with the addition of a V-shaped grille. This example from 1951 was sent to TLT Restoration and RaceTek in Water Mill, New York for a 14-month body-off restoration which entailed the complete disassembly of all panels. As part of the body prep work, the existing paint was hand-stripped and re-primed, then painted Olive Green. Brightwork was refinished and includes the bumpers, eggcrate grille slats, headlight rings, and a passenger-side mirror. The glass was replaced, and the exterior features a two-piece front windshield, a Jerry can at the passenger side of the bed, a full-size spare at the driver side, and a custom stainless-steel exhaust system. The seller notes that the truck has been garage-kept since 2000.

Color-matched steel wheels are mounted to 7.00x16" military-spec tires. The Bilstein shocks have been replaced, and the sway bar bushings were replaced as part of the restoration. Braking is handled by drums both front and rear.

The interior is fitted with the original bench seat that has been reupholstered in green vinyl to match the restored dash and door panels. The floor pans were replaced at the time of restoration and are coated with rubberized flooring material. Features include a box heater, a refinished original steering wheel, and all-new wiring throughout.

Instrumentation includes a circular 80-mph speedometer mounted at the center of the dash in a bright bezel, accompanied by gauges for fuel level, oil pressure, voltage, and coolant temperature. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads approximately 51k miles, though true chassis mileage is unknown.

The rebuilt 134ci F-head inline-four is fully detailed and draws power from a red-top Optima battery. The seller has included images of handwritten itemized checklists that document the items addressed during restoration in 2000. Among the key items are a carburetor rebuild, NGK spark plugs, starter rebuild, thermostat, electrical work, hoses, a radiator, alternator, air filter, and much more as shown in the photo carousel. Power is directed to the rear wheels via a rebuilt BorgWarner T-90 3-speed manual transmission with added overdrive.
